Most "private" messaging apps still know who you are, who you talk to, and when. We built MUTE to know none of those things.
01 — Anonymous Nothing identifies you.
No phone number, no email, no name. Your account is a cryptographic key, generated on your device. We can't link it to a person — because there's nothing to link.
02 — Encrypted End-to-end, by default.
Every message uses X25519 key exchange and XSalsa20-Poly1305 authenticated encryption. Our servers see only opaque ciphertext. They couldn't read your messages even if compelled to.
03 — Disposable Built to disappear.
Auto-delete on a timer. Panic shake to wipe everything. Forensic erasure that overwrites local storage. When you're done with a conversation, it's gone.

End-to-end encryption

Anonymous identity
Your account is a cryptographic key, generated locally. No phone number, email, or personal data ever leaves your device.
Panic shake
Shake your phone with intent and the entire app — chats, contacts, keys — is forensically wiped from disk. Instant.
Panic PIN
Enter a fake PIN to open MUTE with a clean, decoy identity. Real conversations remain hidden in plain sight.
Recovery PIN
Set an optional PIN to restore identity and contacts after a wipe. Encrypted backup stays on your device, only.
Zero-knowledge servers
Our relay servers route encrypted blobs. They never see content, contacts, or metadata that could de-anonymize you.
Auto-delete
Messages can vanish on a timer of your choosing. Once expired, they're gone — both from device and from memory.
Forensic wipe
When you delete, MUTE doesn't just remove the file — it overwrites the underlying storage. Recovery tools find nothing.
Trusted Kill
Designate a trusted contact who can wipe your device remotely with a code phrase. If you can't reach your phone, they can.
Deadman Switch
Set a timer — 24h, 72h, a week. If your phone stays offline beyond that, MUTE auto-wipes itself. Total erasure if your device disappears.
